Disney & Family Vacations

We had such a wonderful time on our family vacation.  From our transfers to our hotel check-in and throughout our vacation, everything was taken care of and planned to a T!  We had all the information we needed to have an excellent vacation and when you're traveling with 3 grand-children, that is incredibly important!  Reserving our vacation with your agency was simple and we won't think twice about doing it again!

Fantasyland Offering More Magic to Visitors PDF Print E-mail

If you haven’t already heard, Walt Disney World opened its latest addition to the Magic Kingdom on December 6, 2012.  Fantasyland incorporates activities and attractions from Beauty and the Beast and the Little Mermaid.  Having a Belle super fan, we will be headed there as soon as possible and I’m sure that your daughter will want to as well!

The Enchanted Forest and Storybook Circus are located a few steps behind Cinderella’s Castle, just past where the Dumbo ride (now doubled in size) is located. In the Enchanted Forest, you’ll find the following new attractions.

  • Under the Sea – Journey of the Little Mermaid: You’ll be transported through Ariel’s underwater world in clamshells, of course, and be sure to stop by Ariel’s Grotto for pictures and autographs.
  • The Beasts Castle: Just beyond, you’ll see the towering castle of The Beast, complete with a new restaurant called Be Our Guest. The restaurant sits over 500 with quick service during the day and table service in the evening.
  • Maurice’s Cottage: Follow the stone path to Mauriece’s home and workshop where you’ll also find Enchanted Tales with Belle. Meet Belle & Lumiere through an enchanted mirror and experience an interactive telling of Beauty and the Beast.
  • Belle’s Village: Of course you will find a large bronze statue of Gaston in the middle of the small village where you can also visit Gaston’s Tavern and sample LeFou’s Brew (an apple juice drink with marshmallow topping)

Storybook Circus will have great rides from old storybook tales and more recent adventures. Aforementioned, Dumbo the Flying Elephant has doubled in size. Barnstormer Featuring the Great Goofini is a family roller coaster with an aerial acobat theme staring the Great Goofini. Pete’s Silly Sideshow will also encourage you to meet Minnie Magnifique, Madame Daisy Fortuna, the Great Goofini and the Astounding Donaldo, all in disguise as circus stars. The area will also have access to the passenger train that travels around the Magic Kingdom.

Walt Disney World will continue to develop Fantasyland in the next few years. First, opening this year, Princess Fairytale Hall will serve as a one stop shop to see Aurora, Tiana, Rapunzel and Cinderella. And in 2014, a new Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs roller coaster will be opening.

Should I Purchase Travel Insurance? PDF Print E-mail

Probably the most confusing portion of travel planning is deciding if you should purchase travel insurance. Thinking about all of the situations that might occur before or during your trip It is imperative that you protect your investment with some sort of coverage, so you do not lose your money or the enjoyment of a wonderful vacation.

All vacation travel companies have some sort of cancellation penalties if you are forced to cancel after the final payment, varying between 30-75 days before you leave. As you can imagine, lots can happen with you or your family within that 4-10 week period; illness, death, or emergency change of plans to mention a few. How sad, to have fully paid for not only the trip but airline tickets and other pre-paid arrangements and then lose it all!

Kids Programs on Cruise Lines PDF Print E-mail

Recently, we had a client that wanted us to give them some information on the children's programs across the  cruise lines.  Someone told them that they all have children's programs and that they are all the same.  Here's the answer:  yes, most of the major cruise lines have children's programs (the ones that you'd want to take your kids on anyway), but NO, they are not all the same.  Keep in mind that each cruise line has it's own identity and target market, so therefore, the level of kids programs are going to be different.  Here's a breakdown of what you'll find on two of the major family cruise lines, keeping in mind that some programs may change by ship and itinerary.

Your Favorite Cruise Lines Renovate Private Islands PDF Print E-mail

Let's say for a minute that cruise line private islands are like houses -- and that Royal Caribbean, Disney Cruise Line, Holland America and Norwegian Cruise Line have all planned renovations to their beachfront properties. If so, we could say Holland America's Half Moon Cay has an improved flow and a few new decorative flourishes, Disney's Castaway Cay is in the midst of a remodeling with several impressive additions, and NCL is transforming a modest cottage into a modern mansion. As for Royal Caribbean's private beach, Labadee, this secluded peninsula on Haiti's north coast received an extreme makeover, and the makeover began with a dock.

The four aforementioned cruise lines are in various stages of improving their private island retreats -- from just starting to already finished. New additions range from private cabanas to exhilarating rides and water play areas, as well as expanded beach areas. Whether the island renovations are being made to accommodate big new ships or add unique ways to explore, the changes will give first timers and repeat cruisers a new and improved taste of island life -- and a reason to return on a future cruise.

Here's what you can expect to find on upcoming private island calls.
